It operates on the global COSPAS SARSAT 406MHz search and rescue satellite communication system. The system is supported by international government search and rescue authorities around the world, so a call for help will be acted upon and fast. Moreover, the XS-4 GPS is subscription free.This model features built-in GPS for additional pinpoint location, further speeding up time of recovery. It transmits two signals simultaneously: one transmits to the global 406 MHz satellite system and the other, 121.5MHz, is a homing signal designed to facilitate the local retrieval response process.
